 "big twin"?

The small block or small twins are based on the DeTomasso era V35/V50/V65/V75
(and now even the Breva). The crankcase splits in half horizontally. The
engine, transmission, swingarm, and rear drive all stand as an integral power
unit. The swingarm actually pivots on the transmission housing. The frame
is lifted off leaving the former bits just sitting there all together on a
block.

Big twins are based on updates to the original V7 motor design.
750/850/1000/1100 Single casting engine block. Swingarm pivots in the
frame. Engine and transmission come out leaving the swingarm and rear drive
as part of the frame.

Some also refer to "big twin" as only the later, larger displacement engines
with squared off cylinder fins and heads.

So, you can have a new 750cc Breva which is a "small twin" or an old
original 700cc V7 which is a "big twin".

Understand?
