Hi, all. I put the new clutch plates in my Ambo. It
seemed to me that the best plates would be bonded,
true shallow-spline, and solid disc rather then spoked
(some aftermarket plates have spokes). The only ones
like that which I could find are Mark's re-lined ones.
I was hesitant, because it is the splines that wore
out on my old plates, and I anticipated that the
splines on re-lined plates would also have a lot of
wear, and also because they cost more then brand new
plates! But Josh said they only re-line the ones with
good splines, and the plates that arrived had very
little wear on them. They fit the hub quite nicely,
and look real solid.

Josh said that they would be grabby for the first 50
miles or so. I was totally unprepared for how grabby
they were! I thought I had done something wrong! But
in just 10 miles they settled down, and now they work
great. My clutch seems more progressive then it used
to be, too.

So: if you want plates that meet the parameters I
mention above, you can find them at Moto Guzzi
Classics.
