Greg,
Yes, contained in the ignitor box is a plastic ring containing a magnet that
fits down over the points cam. In fact, it is identified w/ the "MR121" that
is the part # on the box. The pick up is identified "51W-V4" on one side,
and "IGNITOR by Pertronix, carb e.o. D-57 2" on the other.
At first look, I thought the ignitor plate replaced the points plate in the
distributor, but on closer examination, it fits on top, w/a hole for the old
points pivot post, and being held in place by the screw that was for the
points.
Question, is there a simple check for the condition of the advance springs?
This fancy electronic gadgetry relies on the old bob-weight-and-springs
advance mechanism.
Thanks,
Ron

 Ron:

Is there a magnet or something on the rotor to trigger the ignition?

Thanks!

a

those
who are interested , here's what's in the box:
1. a Pertronix electronic ignition "igniter" (points replacement
module) #
MR-121
2. a Pertronix "flame thrower" 40k volt coil #40611 (3.0 ohm)
3. a new distributor cap Facet # 2.8163
4. a new rotor Facet # 3.8252
5. Two NGK resistor spark plug caps # LB05F, stock # 8051(black)
6. Three pre cut lengths of Belden "high temperature 7mm metallic
cable GC"
w/ metal ends & rubber boots.
7. Sheet of instructions.
