Pete,

When you replace the o ring it is a good idea to upgrade the sleeve that
slides over the push rod (#16 on plate 7 in parts manual) with a series of
cones. MG Cycle has them as does any of the Loop dealers. I replaced the
output seal, throw out bearing oring and cones, inspected and relubed the
bearing all with the tranny in place. I did have to remove the swing arm but
that gave me the chance to give everything in the back and a good look see.
As for the oring I just went to an auto parts store and got an oring that
fit. Mine was a little tight but the clutch action is smooth.

I think it must have been about 3 years since I did anything on the rear
end. I was thinking that I would see a dry rear end gear and worn out parts.
I was pleasantly surprised. Everything I inspected was in top shape....I
suppose a testomonial to making sure everything was well greased and lubed
before.

Ian,

I need to replace the O ring. The one I have does not have any
compression when pushed into the bore. If you hold a straight
edge across the side of the piston with the O ring installed, the
tip of the O ring just barely touched the straight edge, so thats
why I have a steady leak back there.
Did you order the stock O ring or an oversized one?
I checked the local True Value for a replacement but, could not
find the exact size I need. This needs to be dead on to fit right
Thanks!
Peter
