Ian:
If the cables and clutch lever are all in good shape and lubed, then
my vote on the grabby clutch is also a notched input spline. This hangs
the clutch plates up enough so they don't slide smoothly and then
finally grab. Probably more noticeable when starting from a dead stop
than when you're rolling. I solved the problem by smoothing out the
notches on the input spline with a dremel tool and some spline lube.

 Ian:

Notched splines on tranny input.

Try adjusting the clutch cable for more or less slack. Sometimes, for
reasons unknown (as on my bike) this will fix it for a while.

If that doesn't work, do the mineral spirits bath trick. That usually
works for about 1000 miles.

If that doesn't work, replace ithe plates and input.

 Hi All,

Anyone ever had to deal with a grabby clutch? My new Eldo seems to do
this...more so when warm than cold. First gear is the toughest...not
so much
of a problem when moving and going thorugh the rest of the gears.

My thoughts are that it is either an intermediate plate that warps as
it
gets warm or the springs or push rod is binding a bit when the clutch
is
eased out. Not the cables...they appear to be smooth.

Any info is appreciated....Ian
