If it's only one side, it might be an easy ignition thing or even
easier starting-enricher problem. Pull on the cable to the enricher on
the sooty side to make sure there's play. If not, the enricher is up
overloading the cylinder with gas.

Check that both plug wires are solidly seated in the dist. cap. Then
check the resistance from cap end through the plug cap on both. Check
cap for charred/rusted connection ends. Check float bowl of sooty-side
carb to make sure the main

The air filter is clean, it is getting spark, and plenty of gas at
slower speeds (it accelerates great). I think there must be something
wrong with my carburetors. I have not had time to go through them yet,
though. Today I had a plug foul out today (Black/sooty) and I can not
seem to get the bike to maintain an idol on its own. I will check the
accelerator pump pistons to make sure they are both correctly
installed.
