Have you considered bar end turn signals? I put them on my '71 ambo
after a friend gave them to me. They're a BMW item made by Hella, I
think. The advantages are minimal wiring to run, no brackets sticking
out all over the place, you only need 2 of them since there are lenses
fore and aft, they're very visible since they're on the ends of the
handlebars, and they look cool as hell. I think they're kinda
expensive, though, if you have to buy them, although I saw them listed
on the MGcycle page for $45ea. which is much better than the $130/pr
price you usually see.
You can use a generic jap switch (lots of them new at most swap
meets), about 6' of wire and a relay and you're done.

| I have 2 Ambos, one a ratty driver, the other in pieces, both will need turn signals. I have a new set of the reproduction Lucas signals for the driver and 3 of the original Lucas signals (still looking for one original Lucas signal to complete the set) for the non runner. My questions are these: 1.What kind of turn signal switches are available that look good and work on the Ambo, and are reasonable? 2.Are the front and rear brackets to mount the turn signals to the bike available? Anyone have any for sale? Anyone have a dimensional drawing of the brackets? 3.What is the best and simplest way to wire the signals to the bike? Thanks, Lenny Seidman |
