Helge:
I'd check all your electrical connections and grounds, particularly
the one to the starter, and the ground that is from the negative side of
your battery to the battery tray. Some guys like to run a ground
directly to the engine. There was also some discussion of a 'sweet spot'
in the starter button; if you pushed it all the way in it wouldn't
start, but if you pushed it in halfway or something it would make a
connection.
But first, I'd double check the battery with a meter or a battery
tester to absolutely eliminate it as the cause. If it's still good, then
you can go on to look for shorts and bad connections
Maybe your bike was sleepy and wasn't ready to go home just yet.

 Greetings all

When I was about to ride home from work the other day, the starter was
just clicking when I pressed the starter button (Can't tell if the click
was from the relay or the solenoid). The starter motor wouldn't turn.
(The day before the battery was charged to full).
Scratching my beard for a minut and tried again - still just a click.
Went kinda mad and pressed the starter button several times - "click,
click, click, wrraaoooom" Hey! Let's ride home now!

What to look for here? Should I change the Marelli motor to a Valeo (I
already have it stocked)?
Or is it more likely the relay?

Yours sincerely
Helge H.
