Sounds expensive.

Make sure they know you only need the panels polished. Polishing is a
substantial part of the expense.

ChromeMasters is just down the street from me and have an
excellent reputation. I've seen their work close-up (about five
projects). The chrome is thick and deep. Museum quality to
very
good,
but I've seen one job on Triumph pipes that looked rough. The
pipes
were deeply pitted prior and chrome looked lumpy post. Probably
a prep
issue. I don't know if CM did the prep.
I think they do the chrome work for that Orange County
Choppers
group that's on the TV.
Have they done an MG tank?
I'll try to stop by this afternoon and ask them what
they'll
charge. Maybe they'll give us a group discount if we can put
several
tanks together.

These guys are tried and true. Excellent work, prices ok.
Their
turn around
times are decent.

Also, I was reading somewhere, there is now available a
chrome
look powder
coating finish, I have not seen it in person though.

I've seen DIY kits. The basic kits are similar to
the
price of
chroming, but might be worthwhile if you plan to chrome
many
parts over
the years. It's messy, and I don't know what kind of
quality an
amateur
can achieve.

I'm pretty sure chroming is expensive. Thaty's
why
I'm
trying to
find one
that isn't too expensive and does good work.

A while back soemone mentioned that there was some
powder
coating
that
simulated chrome. Is that expensive too? Anyone
try it?

Any DIY chrome kits available? (doubtful)

Thanks.

To all,
Chroming is expensive and a repaint and
decals
will also
be
 necessary.
For those of us who love our bikes (like
Rich)
but don't
want to
put museum money into them, what alternatives
exist? I
know
some have
painted the "chromed" area and outlined with
striping,
but I
like the
 shiny stuff.
Has anyone tried a chrome or alumnium
veneer?
This might
also
 cover dings.
What about chromium paint?
Thanks

I'm thinking of getting my tank rechromed
and
repainted
and I'm
 hoping
someone in NY/NJ can recommend an outfit
to do
it.

Anyone around the Ft Lee NJ area?

Thanks!
