Subject: Updating forks and brakes on Ambo

I would like any advice/experience others have had on updating to
modern forks and disc brakes on the front end. Has anyone found
forks/brakes from other makes (Japanese?) that adapt easily?
My twin shoes stop ok, but suffer serious fade. With speeds and
braking as they are today in cites, I feel I must either update the
V7-Special or move on to another bike. (Give up aesthetics for a model T
derivative).
