Beware of the "CCA" (cold cranking amps) rating system . The CCA does
not always mean increased amp hour capacity and for a given size case/
battery mass , can mean shorter life or lower capacity. To achieve the
higher CCA rating thinnner plates are employed which give more area and
lower internal resistance . Lower resistance allows higher ititial
dischage capacity but the plates deteriorate more rapidly and are
usually less desireable than the thicker plates in motorcycle
applications . Whenever possible use a remote vent to direct the acid
laden gasses generated by the battery out and away from the bike . One
good overcharge can (will/has) destroy a seat pan as well as just about
anything in it't path.

After reading the archives, I went out today to find a group 55 vented
battery with enough power to spin a loop motor fast enough to make it
dizzy!

Vented caps are a thing of the past and soon Group 55 batteries!!!

Wally World (Walmart) still show them, but non-vented. Sears has
discontinued them. Most auto chains are out but their's are also
non-vented.

Looking at an Odyssey...sealed/long life/no acid. They have a 925
series with lots of CCAs and a 680 with lower numbers. The 925 on it's
side will fit in.

Any feedback on what's worked for you??? I looked at
tractor/lawn/motorcycle juice boxes but the CCAs are a lot less. For
a few dollars more the Odyssey seems like the way to go.

Thanks,
JU
