You are going to have the disconnect them from the carbs. It's much
easier and will save you a lot of heartache if you damage something else
in the process.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. I had already gotten that far - my question, more
specifically, is how do I unhook the upper cable from the inside of the
barrel? I've disconnected the cable from the throttle and loosened the
adjuster on the top of the barrel as much as possible. With the lower
cables intact, I'm not able to pull the connector all the way out of the

top of the barrel. I know the bottom of the barrel unscrews as well, but

to do this I'd have to disassemble the lower halves, which is what I'm
trying to avoid since I just rebuilt the carbs and put it all back
together. Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks,
Donny

Donny,
No, you can leave the lowers intact. The front end of the barrel should
unscrew completely revealing the end of the throttle cable. When you
have
it apart, check for fraying of the cable where it goes into the barrel,
unlikely but could happen. When you reassemble grease liberally with a
light grease. Best, Bob

Subject: Cable Question

 Greetings,

I'm trying to replace the upper throttle and choke cables on my '70
Ambo. Is there a way to get the uppers out of the 2 into 1 adapters and
still leave the lowers hooked up or do I have to disconnect the lower
cables from the carbs?

Thanks,
Donny
