Subject: Tough clutch

At the risk of sounding like a girly-man, is there any way to lighten up
the clutch handle? Mine is so damn stiff, it eventually hurts to pull.
My cable is relatively new. Would lubing it help? There is no adjustment
ring on the handle as I have seen on many other bikes. Are all loops
like this? For the record, I have a pretty good grip.
