First off, great stories, everybody!!

Being from a large family(5 sisters, four brothers)most of early
vehicles came from city surplus auctions. Used police cars were pretty
cheap!!

My dad and I went to lots of auctions, to buy a car or truck, fix it up
and resell it for a small profit. We went to a State auction one day in
1980, and they were selling off about a dozen diskbrake police bikes,
Guzzi Eldos, of course. I was 19 and into motorcycles, and could not
leave there without one!!

These bikes, after being retired from service, were used as crash and
burn trainer bikes for new motor officers. Some bikes were pretty
rough.( At this time, I'd like to state that I had never heard of Moto
Guzzi and didn't know squat about them, or I'da bought every one and all
the parts bikes, too!)

So my dad and I chose a really clean bike, and had to pay a whole
$325.00 for it! I rode it home with a big 'ol grin on my face. We
cleaned it up, and had it for about a year, when some guy came along and
offered my dad a $1000. for it. Being a dealer of sorts, he sold it.

I got to missing the old bike and started in earnest looking for another
one. I came across and ad in the local paper for for a full dress 1972
Moto guzzi Eldorado for $750!! I called the guy from work, got the
address, and made it my first stop on my delivery route. It was
beautiful!! I bought it on the spot!

I still have it! and have a few more, and have sold some, and am trying
to buy another one today!!!
