Speaking of wheel/rims...I'd like to get some loop hubs laced to some
steel/powdercoated black 16" rims....any ideas...?

I don't know who might sell Morads in the US, but I have bought a couple
of sets (for Ducatis and Triumphs) from Road and Race Engineering in
Australia. Phil Hitchcock is a good vendor to know. I bought a rim
drilled to my spec about a year ago for around $200 shipping included.
The Morads are built on the old Akront equipment.

 Hi Brian,

I'm not sure that Excel rims are available with spoke holes drilled
at
the correct angle for Loop hubs. If they are, great! But, if not
you'll
have to buy them dimpled but undrilled (if they're available that
way)
and then have someone drill them to spec. More $$$$. This is just
what I
had to contend with a few years ago when searching for replacement
rims
for a customer's Falcone.

Last I checked, the Excel rims were only available in a silver (or
in
colors) satin anodized finish and wouldn't polish up like a Borrani.
The
Morad (former Akront I've been told) rims that SRM Engineering in
Wales
laced onto the Falcone hubs, are virtually indistinguishable from
the
Loop Borranis. I've heard two reports of spokes on Excels pulling
through the holes as well (though this was on hard ridden off-road
bikes). The Morads look to be as beefy as the Borranis. Don't know
if
anyone in the US supplies and can drill Morads yet, they didn't back

then. Cheers,

Charlie

Fred,
When I restored my Eldo, I spent about 10 hours per rim to get
them
polished. I started with 150 grit paper, and worked up to about
600 grit

paper (working by hand and with a detail sander) before going to
the
buffer. The T3 wheels I have now are in worse shape than my Eldo
wheels
 were in.
I have had parts polished by pro places before, and it ain't
cheap. I
would estimate that the cost of doing this would be considerably
more
than half the price of the Excel rims (one rim costs about $125, I

 think).

How bad off are your Borannis? I am sure someone will polish

Does someone know where I can get info on Excel rims for
my T3? I need

to know prices, and where I should order them if I decide to
go this

route. I have some very crusty T3 wheels, and am trying to
decide: elbo

 grease or dollars.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
