Never had a problem with them leaking on mine, but I do check tightness
regularly. I bought an off-brand carb kit once and was unimpressed with
the fit of most gaskets. I'd rather pay a bit more for the Dellorto kits
a be assured of the quality. I worked on an Eldo once that wouldn't stop
oozing - a light coating of Permatex 300 on both sealing surfaces did
the trick. Cheers,

Charlie

Has anyone tried pipe thread sealers such as a pipe tape? Is
"pipe dope" a bad idea?
With good rubber washers, clean threads, and proper torque, I
can't think of anything else (especially since the never fails duct tape
always fails in a gasoline environment. Anyone for a game of Duct-Tape,
Gasoline, Water?)

Richard,
I've also had this problem. The fit of these bowl nuts is really
awful.
Even brand new ones. Probably a bad decision about thread pitch
for this
application. New washers, even two washers, sometimes helps but I
agree
with Bruce's assessment that more frequent checking of these is
in
order. I've even seen red RTV on these but don't know I'd do that
or
that it would help. Overtightening is a bad idea.
