Hope I can get some answers on this on.

My Ambo speedo for the single gauge dash had the common flaking of the
white numerals and lettering on the speedo face. Not bad but needing
work. I also thought that the back of the speedo was broken where the
cable screws on. Moto Guzzi Classics were rebuilding my front forks and
I called Mark and asked him if he had any spare speedos. They restored
ones were more than I wanted t spend but Mark had a solution for me and
I purchased a newly painted and silkscreened face plate and the back
part of the speedo to use with my housing etc. I already had my speedo
and glass apart. Parts arrived and were put away to do on a cold
winter's night.

Well tonight was the night to assemble the speedo with the new parts.
First surprise was that I didn't need the back part of the speedo
internals! I had tried in vain early in the year to remove what was
stuck in the back part where the inner cable and outer cable screws on
but no luck. Tonight I tried again and it came right out. Speedo unit
spins real nice. Seems like one problem fixed.

Then I went to put the new face plate with numerals and lettering on top
of the original clear plastic plate with numerals and lettering and the
numerals are different and in different locations on the face plates!

The original numerals are: 0, 30, 50, 70, 90, 110, 130 and 150

The new face plate numerals are 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120!

And no, 60 on the new face plate does not sit between 50 and 70 on the
old, it sits right on top of 70 on the old one.

Was the old one wrong? Will the new one work? How can I tell what the
speedo really should be?

On the odometer portion of the speedo where the lines and the actual
odometer are it reads MPH under the Moto Guzzi logo.

Perhaps the factory used a MPH gauge with a kilometers face plate? It
doesn't appear that the speedo was ever apart.

Any help would be appreciated.
