I used an air impact chisel gun with a blunt tip. I used a flat piece of metal
to put between the chisel and the nut. No damage to the nut,I did soak it with panther pee for a day or so. I ruined the first one by using a hammer and brass drift.
I bought a set of the after market nuts with the jamnuts.
I've also got a set of those Harbor spanners, they come in a set of three sizes,I have even put a cheater pipe on the intermediate one to remove the packing nut from a water pump.Sometimes a guy just gets lucky I guess.

since the nuts are already screwed up... guess I would use a flat cold
punch or chisel.. make sure you have a good set on the nut.. and
carfully tap with a hammer... in the right direction, of course... Bill

 Hello all!

I need some advise on removing the Exhaust Nuts from my 72' Eldo. I
have been trying all methods, destructive and non-destructive, to remove
these nuts. I ordered a 3 peice spanner set from Harbor Freight which
only broke after about 20lbs of torque on them. I have tried to make my
own wrench, which also broke. I finally got out the infamous pipe
wrench in frustration. With this method the left side nut broke a chunk
off and only wanted to bend the nut. I have lubricated it with
different solutions, lubricants, wax, and even considered pouring beer
on it to satisfy angered gods.

Anyone have a suggestion short of dropping the thing off at Detroit
Eurocycles?

Disassembly of the bike took 3 nights of wrenching and
documenting/packaging.
Removal of these nuts has taken almost 2 and a half months. Ugg!

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!
