Hi all,

While we're on the subject, my original V700-style tank has pretty good
chrome but faded and chipping paint. I'd like to remove the old paint
without hurting the chrome. I've read that most paint removers will
discolor it - what should I use? Thanks,

Charlie.

 Hi Brett,

I had mine painted last year (solid black with metallic gold striping
and decals) My painter (Dave Hirata, Lowell Body Shop, Lowell, Indiana)
said it was no problem at all. I'm not a painter, only relaying personal
experience. So far it's only been a year but it looks like the day I
picked it up. If you would like to see it I would be glad to e-mail you
a picture or two.

I've been talking to my painter, and he claims that new paints do not
stick well to chrome (Guzzi tanks) due to the lack of lead in modern
paints. Anybody have any input? He wants to use the a chrome contact
paper for knee panels and I think that will look like s**t with a ridge
around panel...........thanks in advance for the input. Brett in Indiana
