Since you asked...
My advice is that when you go out to get that beautifully restored Moto
Guzzi insured, be sure to get a policy that comes with a lawyer. As bad as
lawyers are, Ins. companies are worse.

I'm still fighting the ins. co., well my lawyer is now. For those that don't
know. I crashed my Ambo at VMD in Mid-ohio last July. Yes JULY!
When I got the bike insured, my State Farm agent asked me to get an
appraisal. I did, even went to the place they suggested. This is pretty
funny, since the claims agent says the appraisal doesn't matter since MI
does not have any sort of clause for vintage/classic m/cs. Cars, yes, bikes,
no.
The appraised value on the bike was not outrageous, I got stuck with the
"new girl" that has something to prove. So far, I have got very few
questions answered, like, what the hell was my premium based on?? Just the
runaround, Why? cause they can't answer it without incriminating themselves,
so I get the runaround. The have offered me 1/2 the appraised value based on
their market value research, which of course is all on the low end. Pretty
funny that they can market research this when they don't even know what the
hell a Moto Guzzi is! Ah crap, same ol story, if it don't say H-D nobody in
the general public knows what your talking about. All the times we think
it's sort of cool when folks pull up and ask what it is we're riding and "I
didn't know they still made those"
All that comes to bite you in the ass when it comes to an insurance co
paying you. They're thieves, worse yet robot thieves, that refuse to try to
understand, put on the blinders if what you show them is not in their
interest, even if it is correct. Oh! and you are guilty party until proven
otherwise.

No matter what, get an appraisal, take photos, even though the claims agent
is saying it's worthless, I know otherwise. Without it I wouldn't have a leg
to stand on.
And above all, don't trust them! and don't just roll over if anything
happens. They are not your friends, just want as much money from you they
can get without giving you a thing/or the least amount possible.

There are companies out there for the sole purpose of insuring
vintage/classic vehicles. They usually have limits on how many miles can be
put on the bike per year. How they actually know? I have no clue. Check them
out first. I will be looking into these companies myself for the
motorcycles.

Right now I'm just waiting, gathering info for the lawyer as he needs it. He
thinks it's odd they are putting up such a fight over this. Usually they
just pay it out without much esp. since my claim is just a drop in the
bucket. Like I said, I got the new girl that has to rationalize a paycheck.

There is a special place in hell for these folks that makes where Im
probably going look like Disney Land.
Kev
