I think you will find that vertical columns are more intuitive, much easier
to interpret and adjust with than needle guages.

Options:
Carbstix which are the old standard but use toxic mercury if you spill it.
I have a 25 year set and still prefer these. I believe Motion Pro still
sells mercury sticks.
Carbtune (I think) from England uses sliding stainless steel rods instead of
mercury. Obviously safer than the spilled mercury if you break it.
Twin Max uses a left-right analog guage. A little dicier to interpret, but
very small and portable.
