If on a Loop, no need to remove engine. I've done it many times, latest
was two weeks ago. Here's how to do it:

1) Put bike on centerstand
2) Remove head pipes and foot pegs or boards and shifter linkage
3) Remove swingarm spindles, ujoint-boot hose clamps, and nut on rear
brake rod and pull swingarm/wheel assembly back a few inches
4) Remove sidecovers, airbox, battery, and battery tray and disconnect
the speedometer cable and clutch cable
5) Put floor jack under the drain plug on the sump and jack up to
support rear of engine
6) Remove rear motor-mount bolt, starter, and nuts holding engine and
tranny together
7) Jack up engine, using the front mount bolt as a pivot. Jack until
just a few thousandths before the cylinders contact the frame. You may
have to pull the swingarm more rearward to disngage the ujoint from the
tranny output shaft.
8) Pull back on tranny to disengage, and then carefully take it out the
left side. It will be tight, but it's do-able.

Or you could save yourself all the work (takes about 8 hours for one
person, without air tools) and just make up a Guzzi Maxi-pad and
duct-tape it in place, if the leak is not too bad.

Also, sniff it to make sure it's oil and not tranny fluid that's
leaking.

Good luck!

What is the cleanest way to get the engine out of the frame. I need to
replace the rear main seal.
