Chuck:
I've had great success using the stuff that they make the fake
stained glass window ornaments with. You can find it in most craft
stores for a couple bucks, get ruby red . Make sure the lens is clean,
don't use a solvent that will melt plastic. I've had to clean red spray
paint out of one.
You'll put it on the inside; do the middle first, then prop the
taillight lens up so you can do it in quadrants, it'll be too thick if
you try to do it all at once. What you're trying to do is fill it to the
top of those pointy diffusion thingies and end up with a smooth concave
surface. It may take a day for each quadrant to dry before you go on to
the next.
You can polish the outside with Maguiar's plastic polish or a string
buffing wheel and the proper rouge. The outside of the lens will still
appear faded, but will shine very red. Don't forget that there's a
gasket in there.
Others have found a universal truck stop taillight lens that fits,
although I seem to remember that it's not exactly the same and doesn't
look right to me.

 Hi, listers..
is there any way to make a "faded" original taillight red again?
Cheers!
