Hi All,
The 5 spd. trans I bought arrived yesterday and I'm curious about just
what bike it's from. The seller said it was from an 850-T3, but I'm
wondering if it's not earlier than that. When did they stop putting the
extra casting (the one that hangs down just to the rear of the trans.
mount bolt hole) on the rear cover? It also has a bracket mounted to the
neutral switch bolts that looks like the one for holding the starter
relay (as on a V7 Sport). How late did they mount the starter relay in
this position on the Tonti-framed bikes? I can't find any numbers on it
anywhere for i.d. purposes.
Anyway, I plan to use it and the Convert engine I have in "Freebie" the
'72 Ambo. I remember a post regarding the speedo cable position of the
later trans. and how modify the Loop battery tray to clear (Dave
Washburn?) Or should I just find an Eldo rear trans. cover?
The pieces I need are the throwout lever on the back of the trans. (part
no. 1409 0201) and a shallow spline clutch hub (part no. 1408 1810) with
good splines. If anyone has either of these, give me a shout offline.
