Hi David,
Thanks for the help! Yep, '72 Ambo, '76 Convert engine (with Loop front
cover) and 5 spd. Guess I'll have to swap the rear drive for one with
Eldo gearing too. Has anyone done a 5spd. into Ambo swap and kept the
Ambo rear gearing? Is it really going to make the bike geared way too
high as Guzziology suggests? My trans. isn't machined for the shifter
either, so I guess I have to do that. Or I might just try to find an
Eldo rear cover to swap on and replace that spring (that can't be
mentioned for fear of setting off a plague of failures) while I'm in
there.

The last pic looks kinda' like Dinosaur Land at Double Tollgates (the
intersection of US340 and US522 just north of Front Royal, VA). Cheers,

Charlie

Hi Charlie, You are going to make an Ambo with a Convert motor with a
5-speed?

We are here to help:

The greasy hunk in the first two pictures is from a 1977 SP, no extra
casting that I can see. I think my 5-speed back cover was from a 1975
"T". It had the casting but it was not machined for the shifter so I
asked Manfred to do it when he rebuilt the transmission.

The third greasy hunk photo is of the mod to the battery tray. I made a

nice big hole so I can change the speedo cable without taking apart the
bike.

Prizes to anyone who IDs the last photo. It is in VA.
