Yeah, I'm diggin' the 'Vert. In fact, I'm sure these guys are probably
tired of hearing about it.

I bought a Rifle "Superbike" fairing off eBay for $10.00 a while back. I
just stuck it on the 'Vert. Looks pretty good.

Still a few more little things to sort. Change out the fluids. I broke
the key off in the ignition, so I guess I should probably change that
too. I've got some ideas for improving the hand brake.

I'm thinking about fixing up the timing chain and tensioner. I'd like to
put it off until next winter, but I probably better not. I think I can
hear it at idle. Now I've fixed a couple of these in the past. I usually
go with the Valtek tensioner and the master link type chain. Anybody got
any advice here? What about just changing the tensioner? Who else besides
MI carries the chain with master link? Is the master link a bad idea? The
bike has 26,000 miles on it.

Yup.. There are no clearance issues running the fishtails with the stock
bag mounts. There were some issues with the mounting set up. I talking
about the MAC tails here. Some were fine, bolted right on (B.R.O. yeah
sure,, bolts right on bro..famous last words) I always thought this would
make a cool aftermarket parts co. name. Friendly, yet sarcastically
misleading. Anyways......

Yeah there were some issues there. The mount tabs were positioned in the
wrong place to where the muffler would slide on the header all the way
yet still have about a 1.5" before it lined up with where it was supposed
to mount to the frame. I solved this by painting two flat steel brackets
black. Bolting that to the frame mount then to the muffler. Basically I
made an extension. Had to keep it monkey-ape- gorilla tight since the
angle was crappy, but it worked.

Everything is fixed with black spray bomb.

Like I said though, some actually did bolt right on. Like Darrell said.
Unless your running some whacked out muffler that could steer a cruise
liner, clearance shouldn't be a problem.

Hey Darrell.. Still enjoying the scooter on steroids?

I know Kev Graf was running a rig like that before he augered into the
cornfield. I don't think there will be any issues (at least with MAC
fishes). Now if you go with the custom '59 Caddy fishtails, that might be
another matter. You out there Kev?
