Karl,

The distributor tunnel on the late model engines is not machined all the way
down so there is no clearance for the distributor drive gear to fit down the
hole. Guzzi machines them enough to fit the blank cover plate and that's
it. Once the block is stripped he can take the case to a machinist and have
the tunnel finished, then he can run the distributor off a different cam
with a drive gear. I ran into a few other issues fitting a late model motor
to a Tonti frame, some of which may not apply to loops.

This question is more towards the newer models, but maybe some one will
know. I have a almost new (less than 300 mile from new) 1100cc Guzzi motor
for sale. I have a guy who wants to put it in a eldo. I put a 86 square
barrel motor in my eldo and it was not to hard. The main difference between
this and what I did was the ignition, Can he just install a cam (with
distributor drive) and say a T3 distributor (after he removes the
distributor hole cover) and not worry about using a computer ignition system
?

I noticed that Stan was running a old style distributor on his 1100 Sport
BOTT racer. Is this all there is to it ?
