Hi all,
Here's a few things I thought I'd pass along:

- 4 spd. clutch hubs - Apparently Guzzi changed the diameter of the
input shaft of the 4 spd at some point from 22mm (I think) to 25mm. I
got the dead engine and good trans out of the '72 Ambo this morning and
started to get the trans ready to go back in. The clutch hub was pretty
deeply notched, so I went out to the shed and pulled a better one off of
another 4 spd. That's when I discovered the difference - it wouldn't
fit! Luckily I have another that does. "Something new" I learned today
(which others have probably known for years!).

- Wheel bearing shims - I needed some of the "paper thin" shims for my
'72 project and bought them at McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com).
I ordered part number 98089A232 (20mm id x 28mm od x .1mm thick) which
looks like it will do the job just fine. $5.68 for a pack of 25. I'll
let y'all know how they work once installed.

- Stainless steel hardware - The reason I odered the shims from
McMaster-Carr was because I already had an order of s.s. metric hardware
worked up. If you've never dealt with these fine folks, you should. I
find their online catalog very easy to use, the prices reasonable and
the service second to none. Ordered Sunday night (online) and it arrived
today at 5 pm.

- Stopped by a local (Falling Waters, WV) powdercoater yesterday and
plan to give him a try on an upcoming customer BMW project. He also does
ceramic coating of headers, mufflers, etc. I haven't gotten a quote yet,
so we'll have to wait and see about pricing.

Like Ian said last week - a Loop is a joy to work on! I've made pretty
good progress the past several days and have really enjoyed being out in
the shop all day (I'm on vacation). Hope to have the Ambo "1000"
(dollars and cc's - actually 950 of each at this point) on the road in
time for the PA Rally. If I miss that, then hopefully for the MD/DC
Rally and Mid-Atlantic Italian Moto-Fest weekend. Cheers,

Charlie
