If you are pinging in only one cylinder I would check the carbon buildup in
that cylinder. A build up of carbon changes the compression ratio and can
cause pinging.

Hi, Greg. My bike pinged when I firts put it on the
road, and replacing the advance springs cured it. That
was both cylinders, however. If you have a problem in
only one, perhaps you should re-check your point gap.

Mark, I sure am sorry to hear about all your problems
with the factory. I notice that my old dealer, The
Spare Parts Co in Philly, is no loonger listed on the
Guzzi web site eaither. I imagine Franz got sick of
it.
