Jason,

Saturday will be therapy for me after my work week :-) Why riveted?....the
boys at MG Cycle say that the Sure Flex have been known to be grabby. I am
trying to remove any possibility of the grabbiness that I have been
experiencing. I sure hope that I don't get a set like yours. Maybe I will be
lucky and I can get 5,000 miles out of this set of plates :-)

Interesting to note....rode the Eldo over to the gym this morning...about 3
miles. Bike worked perfectly with no grabbiness in the beginning and then
had just a little bit as I stopped. Was the same when I rode home. Will be
interesting to see how she is after my 7 mile ride to work this afternoon.
Maybe I will just leave everything as it is and keep the bike to 3 miles
trips :-)

All interesting stuff to me. Amazing how much you learn as you tinker with
these things. The chopper boys never deal with this....they just take it to
the shop!

So, why are you going with riveted plates? I can send you mine in which
all the rivets failed.
Seriously- is one style plate REALLY better than the other or do they
both have their own special modes of failure? I'll admit that I am
skeptical of riveted plates now, because the ones in my bike failed
after only about 3-4000 miles. That's unacceptable. I'm replacing the
whole shebang with the RAM clutch (decided to go for it). I'll let
ya'll know what think when I get it in.
I have no experience with Sure Flex clutches but a warped intermediate
sounds reasonable for your symptoms. There goes labor day, eh?

Hey All,

Well....after dealing with the White Eldo's grabby clutch I
have decided
 to
take it to the next level....replace the clutch components. After
talking
with Rick and Gord (of MG Cycle) I have decided that the problem has to
be a
warped intermediate plate or clutch plates. Rick and Gord think that the
problem is in the Sure Flex clutch plates. I guess we'll see on Sat. Ed
and
I will pull the engine and replace the components (springs, clutch
plates,
intermediate plate). Plates will be riveted instead of bonded.

Anyone want to guess what is causing all of this? I am hoping to see
some
kind of indication of failure.

I'll let y'all know of what we find....Ian
