Best way that I have found to get some "real light" out of any older
Guzzi headlight regardless if it's stock or halogen H-4 is RELAYS! Go
to any auto parts store and go to the accessory lighting dept. and pick
up a couple of 30 amp relays. You need one each for low beam and high
beam. Instructions are usually on the back. Once you have them
installed all the headlight switch does is trigger the relay which then
carries the load instead of the switch. Really makes a big difference.
The rectangular channel under the main frame backbone makes a great
place to put them. You can get them in the headlight shell, but it gets
a bit crowded.
Good luck.

I used male spades to connect from the factory socket to the relay coils
and wired another socket (also available when you get the relays). That
way if I have realy failure I can just unplug and reconnect the original
circuitry.
That is why most 'pillbox' light switches are burnt inside.
