I've had good luck using a can or two of Coke Classic to loosen that
ring/piston crusty/rusty crap on several car motors.
Just poured it in the cyl. with the rusty sparkplug, come back the next day
with a breaker bar on the crankshft pulley nut and turn the motor over.
Works good for cleaning up those old rusty tools that look like they have
been buried as long as your great, great grandparents.
It can't hurt things any worse than a hammer and its CHEAP.

That's too easy. Force MUST be used, any "good" mechanic knows that. :)

Why not just remove the oil pan and undo the conrod bolts and remove
the cylinder with the pistons?

Hey Andy, the Dreamcycle had sat outside for 12 years with left
valve cover off and therefore had about a gallon of water in motor
and a really stuck left piston also. About a can of Blaster over
several days, and probably an hour of beating on piston with
hammer/wood block (and sometimes without the wood block) finally
got the bugger loose....You don't care about the piston do you?
