Thomas:

Actually, a smaller m/cworks better. I use a 13-mm to power two discs.
A 12 is great for one. Stock is 15mm on the disc Eldos.

If you use the drum-brake springs, the bike will sit at drum-brake
height, so you won't likely need the longer tube covers, though I
haven't done it yet so can't be sure. One possible way to overcome this
if there is a gap is to glue onto the disc-fork sliders the chromed top
cap from the drum brakes. Mark Etheridge did this when using Cal 1100
forks on an 1100 Eldo replica he built.

For fender braces, I don't know what is required.

Another way to add disc forks is to machine a tapered top cap (to match
the taper inside the Eldo top triple tree) for the disc forks and affix
it with the 8mm cap screw that holds the dampers in the disc forks. You
will likely need the longer fork covers with this mod, or have to live
with a gap between the top of the fork sliders and the fork covers.

I know you'd need a spacer for the left disc, and likely for the right
as well to get correct disc spacing when using a T3 wheel on an Eldo.

I'm converting a drum to disc. These are a few of the things I found.

On a disc front end:
The fork tube covers are longer.
The shock top caps are different. This can be over come using Greg's
FAC
install method.
The rear fender brace is different. It has a funky bend.
The axle spacer is slightly longer. I will measure this and post it in
the
next couple of days.

Your conversion should also include a larger diameter , like a T3 ,
brake
reservoir. Greater braking power with less effort.

Has anyone added a second disc? Can you use a T3 wheel without any
other
modifications? I remember seeing someone selling a spacer for the front
wheel to add a second disc. It was expensive.

Tom

I wanted better dampers on my disc-brake Eldo, so I spent a little
time
this weekend figuring out a way to fit the FAC dampers to it. After a
few false starts, it worked, and fork action is vastly improved. At
the
same time, I made a pre-load spacer for the springs, and gained some
extra ground clearance.

It's a bit of work, but it can all be done with files, hacksaw, drill
press, and one tap. Also, this method looks like it could be an easy
way to convert a drum-brake loop to disc brakes.

If anybody's interested, I can write up how it was done.
