SS carbs refers to the old round slide Dell'Orto carbs found on most 1950's and 1960's Italian bikes. All with seperate float bowls either on the side or fully remote.
SS1 29 carbs were fitted to the first V7 twins made (first year maybe???).

Then production went to the "square slide" VHB series carbs which have the float bowl built into them.

Seems some loops came from the factory with round AMAL carbs at some time also??? Can anyone shed some light on the use of Amal carbs on Guzzi twins??

Regards
Gavin

Subject: SS Carbs??????????????

A few e-mail threads ago I think Mark was saying something about "SS Carbs" that the square slide carbs are better, that SS Carbs are responsible for a lot of loop fires (if I am misquoting you Mark then I owe you a beer). Sorry for the ignorance but are SS Carbs the same as the original round-slide carbs that came on the Ambos from the factory?? Thanks, Bob
