Hi,
I had inquired a while ago if anyone knew the difference in length
between the stock Eldo motor mount bolts and the Police mounts. No one
responded and I have since obtained a Police bolt for my rebuild. These
longer bolts are required for the floorboard rails and crash bars.

So, now I'm able to report what I've learned. The stock civilian motor
mount bolts, front and rear, are 13 1/8 inch long, measuring from the
end of the threads to the bottom of the hex head. Don't include the
depth of the hex head itself. The Police bolts are 15 1/4 inch. I don't
have a metric scale that long so you'll have to do the math if you care.
Feeling lazy tonight.

Also, I bolted up the floorboard rails and know for sure that the stock
civilian bolt will work on the rear.

Hope this may help someone else.

I've been intrigued by all the info and opinions on the generator
bracket issue. I installed studs, standard size, no increase in
diameter, and used red loctite. The motor is still on the bench so I
don't have any miles to report. Some have suggested a bracket from
generator stand to frame but I recall some talk a while back that this
adds to the vibes. The suggestions that seem the most sound to me are
the ones dealing with flat contact with the case, shimming if necessary.
I like this much better than attaching the gen to the frame. I love all
the ideas and actual miles evidence being shared. That's the beauty of
the list.

My second thought on all this is how long has this been problem been
observed and talked about? Was it ever acknowledged by the factory? Or
is it mostly an age problem rather than an actual design concern? Greg?
You want to weigh in on this? Just curious?

Ok, one more thing. I'm going to Cleveland, Ohio for Oct 20-24. My
oldest son is getting married up there. Anyone want to hook up for a
meal and a beer. I'll be staying near Mentor, east of Cleveland but
would travel to BS with loopers. If so, email at ray.-@sfcc.edu

Later
