Thanks all. I'll give it a shot, but I don't see any screws on mine. But, I
went to oreilly's auto parts today and found a cheaper made button of the
exact same dimesions except the back is a little bigger (my original nut
even screwed onto the plastic threads easily) so I'm not sure my boot will
fit, but it was under $3.

Hi Ted,
The black plastic part can be separated from the metal part by removing
two small screws with slotted heads that go in from the back. I've had
mine apart twice to polish the contacts and repack it each time with
dielectric grease. I've made a habit of turning the button a little bit
each time I start the bike. This seems to prolong the interval of
service by rotating the circular contact inside.

The lengths some people will go to avoid spending $14.75, eh? :-)
