Bob et al,

I have had my 69 Ambo for about 4 years, lots of ups and downs with her as
the old timers on this list will attest. Finally got her to where she is
reliable, and.... I understand more about motorcycles and Loops. Bought a
2001 Suzuki SV650 this Summer. Flawless bike, real fast take off,
impeccable brakes, lots of "wow!". But I don't love the Suzuki, I love the
Ambo. I am a director of a mental health clinic, I am supposed to know why
this happens to me, to us. But I don't, we don't, it is simply the
"Loop Mystique". Bob

I know what you mean. I have a 2002 Triumph Tiger and thought it
couldn't get any better. Had some spare cash and my tiger was out of
commission while I had the seat recovered and bought a '73 Eldo Police
Special. Can't get over the feeling of riding the Eldo. Broke a throttle
cable after a Guzzi Rally in the Blue Ridge Mts. of NC and was out for
over a month trying to get the right parts, rebuilding the Amals and
fixing a generator mount. Cranked it back up last night, tweaked the
carbs and rode. Love the Tiger, really love the Guzzi.

Now I want to get an SP1000 or similar '80s bike for super Highway
rides, Need to be able to run 90mph for long distances sometimes.

Earlier this year the camshaft timing gear in my Ambassador broke while
I was enjoying a two-day trip throughout northern and northwestern
Minnesota.

Since that time, my wife and I have moved from the Minneapolis area to
Tampa, Florida, Angela has started a new job, we've been busy selling
and buying homes, and we have our first baby on the way sometime in the
middle of November. As you can imagine, I've had plenty to do.

We've been in our new home for two weeks now. Last Sunday, I was able to

get a replacement set of timing gears installed and the Ambassador came
back to life! The joy was immense as I took the old girl out for a spin.

I own a 2000 Quota in addition to the Ambassador. When it comes to
technical comparisons, the Quota easily stands out as superior. But,
there is just something about riding on the loop frames that makes me
forget all about those technical data sheets. It is good to be back in
the saddle again.
