Hi Ron Komoroski and Rob Prins,

Just wanted to let you know that I ended up going with the Heim joints
from McMaster-Carr. What an improvement! This took care of all of my
freeplay. No drilling, just bolt on and go. Thanks! Here is a link to
the Metric joints - I used item number 6275K33:

I couldn't find any metric connecting rod. So, for right now, I'm using
stainless steel allthread. Eventually I'll get some rod and thread the
ends. Here is the link - I used item number 94185A155:

 Greg,
All the "cab over" diesel trucks use "hiem"sp?? ball & socket joints w/
rods
to hook up control linkages so the cab can be flipped up to work on the
running gear. I took all the slopped out fittings from my Eldo down to a
local big truck dealer & the parts guy helped me match up what I needed
to
replace them all w/nice tight ball & socket joints. I did have to cut,
thread, & bend a couple lengths of rod, but it was no big deal.

Greg,
You can get Heim joints from McMaster-Carr online, search for "rod end
ball joints". They have the connecting rods too.

I've got some sloppy shift linkage on the Ambo. Essentially, the pins
and holes have wallered out with time and use (and not enough
lubrication). The end result is that there is a lot of free play in the
linkage.

Other than purchasing new linkage (which I assume is no longer
available?), what is a good way to fix this problem? Would it be best to

drill out the holes and replace with generic bushings and pins?
