Hello everyone! Steve Hampton here - I too am a new member, but it seems I'm far removed here in southwest Arkansas from the mainstream Guzzi population!

I don't know that you are that far away from a lot Guzzi'ists. There was a Guzzi campout just a few weeks ago in southeast Oklahoma, probably not too far away from you. Seems to be a quite a few of us in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

By the way, I guess I'm a new member though I've asked a few questions here. I had some trouble getting access to this list at first (maybe because I used ju-@astrocomma.com as my email address expecting to get spammed)
I have a 1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado that I bought from a guy named Guzzi Doug who used to be on some MajorDomo listserv in and around 1997. He lived in Alabama and told me he had a Green '74 in great shape and he'd deliver it. I trusted him cause he was a regular board contributor, sent him half the money. Then came the stalling, then he said it wasn't in such good shape, but he had a red one that was better. About 2 months later than promised, he delivered a complete POS that would barely start and run, had no wiring hooked up to speak of, a nearly frozen rear brake pedal, huge japanese clutch lever, disintegrated seat (and rusted pan). I figured I was better off giving him the rest of the cash and getting the bike than ending up with nothing.
I have moved to Mexico and Denver and Back to Tulsa since then, gotten married and had a kid. And finally started working on it and got it running and driving this summer. I guess it hasn't run in at LEAST 7 years, probably quite a bit longer. But it starts and runs like a champ now.
It's painted Black and Orange in honor of my beloved Oklahoma State University Cowboys!
I will probably need to rebuild the clutch soon (maybe the starter too) as it is VERY grabby. I dumped some mineral oil in it the other day after reading this list and it seemed to fix it right up, but I guess it's only a temporary fix.
I'll post pics as soon as I get my digital camera out and make space in the garage for some pictures.

Bikes I've had (that I remember) in chronological order starting from about 1972:
197? Indian 50 (Italian)
197? Honda MR 50
197? Honda XR 75
198? Honda XR 80
198? Honda ATV 90 (3 wheeler, had 3 of these)
198? Suzuki RM 100
198? Suzuki TS 100
-- long break of not having bikes --
1984 Honda V45 magna (V4 750)
1966 Triumph Bonneville (restored from bike that shouldn't have been restored to near new)
1969 Triumph TR6
1974 Yamaha RD 350
1991(?) Kawasaki KLR 650
1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado
1995 Kawasaki KLR 650

Right now, the Guzzi is my only bike. I am a professor of Computer Science at Oklahoma State - Okmulgee branch. Spent 3 years in the US Navy. Play drums and Harmonica. Ummmm that's about it.
