No, the problem is that the 2 rear mount holes are too close together. They are supposed to mount on the outside of the long 2 sided nut that holds the seat and the grab rails. I can't pull them any further apart because they are right next to the little welded cross bars. Know what I am saying? If not, I'll take a picture.

Ted, I bought a luggage rack for my 69 Ambo on Ebay. The first time I installed it I did an enormous amount of grunting and cursing. Now I can put in on, when I need it, in a fairly straight forward manner. Could it be that you just need practice, no kidding here, is it just a matter of getting used to what to button up first??
