John,
Thanks for the painting tips. Yeah, I figured I'd only need a small volume
paint gun as motorcycle parts are small. Also, I have a really crappy
compressor, old thing, that takes about 10 min. just get up to 90lbs
pressure and usually only gets up to 60lbs.

Lube is a Spanish bike with a German NSU engine. It is my understanding
that some guys that used to work in Germany for NSU moved to Spain and
started the Lube motocycle company, 1950s or so. Not sure of my history on
this. But anyway, my friend has this old Lube, which is very funky looking,
and I need a Wintertime distraction so the Lube might be it. It's a 250cc
two stroke. Just this year bought and sold a Benelli Cobra 125cc two
stroke, wish I had not sold her she was way cool looking.

Best, Bob

Bob:
I don't spray lots of stuff, hate to do bodywork. What I use for
little bits and pieces is a Binks jamb gun, not gravity feed but a small
touch up gun that holds about 1/2 pint. Just about right for bike parts.
It's what I happen to have.
The main difference between gravity feed (HVLP) and regular sprayers
is that the gravity feed works on lower pressure and doesn't send most
of your paint into the air (and all over everything in the vicinity). I
guess it's the newer hot way to go. You might consider a touch up size
gun, though. You'll never spray an entire quart on a bike.
And what the heck is a Spanish Lube? Sounds like something they do
in jail.

By the way. I may be painting a bike this winter. I may be getting a 1964
Spanish Lube (doing this to keep from getting cabin-fever here in Rochester
NY). I have a compressor. I need a paint sprayer. Is gravity feed best.
There are some on Ebay for $20 - $30. I don't want to spray vast
quantities
of paint, just need something for small paint jobs.
