Subject: Generator Bracket Question

Was checking the tension on the gen belt the other day and noticed that
when I squeezed the belt, the front of the gen would move down a little.
When I grab the gen as a whole and try to move it, it doesn't budge.
The tank is off and I have looked at the gen bracket with gen in place
and can see no evidence of a crack. Where do these brackets normally
crack? Should I pull the gen and take a closer look or does the gen
normally lean forward a bit when squeezing the belt?
