Hi Steven,

Since the Guzzi design is to allow the cam to pull forward against the
camshaft flange (the hellically cut timing gears pull it in that
direction, eventually wearing the camshaft flange), I'm not sure there
is any need to shim the cam at all. I have a feeling that it will run
fine with that much end-play without causing any trouble. If you are
really concerned, I'd replace the camshaft flange and call it good.

Nice ! I love it !

Hey Charley,

I'm working on a 71 ambo engine, the cam shaft is slopping back and
forth .075". I cant seem to tighten the shaft nut and remove the play.

I'm wondering if its the cam support flange ? Other than that the rest
if the insides are spotless ? I'm stuck !?!?

I've updated my site, adding a new Loop of the Month and posting a few
pics of the progress I made today. My buddy Dan came over and helped
install the engine & trans. into the frame! Hoping work will move much
faster now that I have the whole shop to myself and lots of clean, shiny

parts ready to go on. Cheers,

Charlie
