Hi Ted,
If you have the $ to spend it's probably best to just replace the chain
while you're in there. After running loose and beating against the case
it's probably worn somewhat. Sprockets don't usually wear significantly,
but it wouldn't hurt to compare them to some new ones (in real life or
pics). Generally, the teeth shouldn't be pointed and the surface on the
driven side of the teeth (the side the rollers would be against during
normal rotation) shouldn't be worn concave.

I installed the chain with masterlink and a Valtek tensioner on my buddy
Dan's Eldo about 10k ago. Recently he was inside the timing cover to
replace the crank seal and told me everything looked just fine
(tensioner shoe barely marked, chain tension fine, link firmly in
place). Moto International sends a "Help Sheet" to aid in installing
both - just follow the recommendations and it'll be fine. Cheers,

Hi Guys still working on this Eldo 850 and just discovered that it has a
timing chain. Ser# 59995. Have it apart and rubber is off the manual
adjuster. Dam now I have to pull the rocker arms off and have a look!
So when do you replace the chain, is there a measurement? And what about
the Sprockets, do they wear out? The chain has hit the case a bit, no
real damage. Guzziology talks about a Tsubaki master link chain. They
any good? Checked MG Cycle web page they have a tensioner listed and
solid timing chains only. Has anyone used the master link chain with
good results?

Thanks Ted
