Subject: GENERATOR REGULATOR???

Recently had problems with the regulator sticking and not allowing the
battery to charge properly. I could rap on the side and it would click
and start working properly. Replaced it with a Auto Parts store version.
Went riding Thanksgiving morning and when I got home the charge light
was on, tapped the side of the new regulator and the light went out.
What other problems might I have? Does the regulator have to be
polarized in some way? Any input greatly appreciated.
