this is a guess...maybe 15mm diameter, 10mm length, relatively stiff spring.

Somebody wouldn't have some ballpark specs for this spring, would they? ;-)
I would imagine it doesn't need to be an exact replacement, just take up
some play in the end.

Hi Rich,
The 2nd edition V700 manual has the best and only correct illustration I
have. The order it shows is: fiber washer, tab washer (w/tabs towards
the end cap), washer (your shims?), spring. From what I remember that's
the assembly order in the few I've had apart as well. I can check to
