Hi Gunnar,
I removed the pits in a few lifters by chucking them up in the lathe and
using well-oiled emery cloth to polish the pits out. Don't know if they
were as badly pitted as yours or if by polishing them the hard face of
the lifter is compromised. I've had a set done this way in my '69 Ambo
for around 10k miles now but don't think I'll tear it apart to see how
they're holding up. :-) Cheers,
