I don't think there is a screw in the oil pump gear. However, there is a slot in the tip of the drive shaft. There is a key on the shaft to drive the gear. Often, when you install the gear it is not aligned with the key and keyway. Just stick a screwdriver in the slot, rotate the drive shaft until the oil pump gear slides home.

Hi Ted,

All of the nuts that secure the timing gears are standard right-hand
threads. A impact wrench with a 26mm socket really helps. When
tightening, I just jambed a pry bar in the ring gear (after removing the
starter) and used a torque wrench to get it to the appropriate value. I
don't recall taking notice of a screw in the middle of the oil pump
gear. In fact, looking at my old oil pump gear, there aren't any screws
at all in it. Hope this helps.

Are all the timing gears regular threads? None of them are reverse are
they?
Want to make sure before I start trying to remove bolts. Also, what is
the
screw in the middle of the oil pump gear for?

Thanks again.
Ted
