George Dockray (a.k.a. George in Vancouver -
http://www3.telus.net/gdockray/my_t/) sent me a link to this German site
where they have apparently made an adapter to allow the use of a
non-canister/exposed type oil filter inside the oil pan. This seems very
attractive for obvious reasons (longer between oil changes, maintain
appearance of the bike, better protection for the engine). I sent them
an e-mail message in hopes of finding price and availability.

1. Click on "Moto Guzzi" in the left frame.
2. The very top item is the "lfilterumbau V7". Check out both pictures
links below it (Bild 1, Bild 2).

Here is the Google German to English translation of the desciption:

"Oil filter change V7

Increases the life span of the engine by installation of a filter
cartridge. Supplied with sucking in flange, special screw and filter
cartridge (with designation)."

Does anyone here have experience with such an alteration? My primary
concerns are (1) that the oil pump can suck the the oil through the
filter at the appropriate volume/rate (2) that replacement filters could
be had locally - perhaps through a trucking supply or other distributor?
What could be other pitfalls of which I'm not aware?
