I did publish the book, but it's not quite as you remember. The guy was
Vaughn Beals, CEO of H-D after the buyback. WHen they were testing the
Nova V-4 prototypes, they had a bunch of competing bikes to compare
with it. Among them was a Guzzi (he thinks it was an SP). When he rode
the Guzzi he was very impressed with how excellently it handles.

Also, Rit Booth, project lead on the Dyna Glide and a bunch of other
models, had an 850 LeMan that he used to ride to work, before buying
and XR-1000. He definitely strove to make the chassis of the Harleys he
worked on stiffer, like the Guzzi's, but he did not copy the designs
because he was always required to first make it look right, then make
it work OK.

Hey Greg!, I apologise for asking this question on the loop forum,
but,...

I have note from you about when you interviewed a gentleman who worked
at the HD factory. In the conversation you had with him, he stated that
he rode a Guzzi once, and it impressed him so much, he followed the
design for HD's.

Did you ever write the book, and is that quote in there?

I have some bubbles to pop!

Thanks,
